Are Nigerian Youths Ready for Leadership Roles?
Nigerian youths have the potential to be ready for leadership growth, but there are several challenges that need to be addressed to fully prepare them for leadership roles.
Some of the challenges include: limited access to quality education, unemployment and underemployment, political exclusion and marginalization, limited opportunities for skills development and mentorship, and cultural and societal expectations that prioritize age and experience over youth and innovation.
However, there are many initiatives and programs aimed at developing the leadership potential of Nigerian youths, such as:
Leadership training programs.
Mentorship schemes.
Entrepreneurship support.
Political empowerment programs.
Also, many Nigerian youths are already demonstrating leadership skills and potential, such as; Starting their own businesses and enterprises, leading community development projects and initiatives, advocating for political and social change, and creating innovative solutions to societal problems.
Nigerian youths should take the mantle of leadership for several reasons:
Youths bring new ideas, energy, and innovative thinking to the table, which can help address the country's complex challenges.
Nigeria has a youthful population, with over 70% of its citizens under the age of 30. This demographic advantage can be leveraged to drive growth and development.
Youths deserve a seat at the table and a voice in decision-making processes that affect their lives and future.
By taking the mantle of leadership, I believe Ngerian youths can drive positive change, address societal challenges, and create a brighter future for themselves and the nation.
